how to: fix a board

Well it's about that time of year again. Street rail sessions. undoubtedly our boards are gonna get trashed. without a doubt. but to help slow the process and keep your board riding nice and smooth throughout this season i'm going to provide you with a nice how to guide to patch those nasty cuts and scrapes in the base of your board.

ok well first step is to evaluate the situation, see what you're dealing with. if you can see wood core... well you may have a bigger situation than this little technique can fix and you will have to go to a shop. or patch it yourself. which is something i may show you later on if i manage to eff my board up to that extent. but anyways. here is what i was presented with. 3 dents in my base like this. pretty mellow. easy fix no doubt.

then next step. locate your tools and p-tex candle. these babies can be bought and most snowboard stores for a couple of bucks. i recommend buying like 5 or 6 of them tho. they go pretty quick. one thing i forgot in this image was a razor blade, which you will see later on.

then you'll want to take the lighter and light that little stick of plastic on fire. be careful. it gets really hot and if that drips on your skin it will cause an instant blister. it really really sucks. trust me.

get it burning nice and evenly

then begin dripping it into the scratch. don't fill it up entirely right away tho. just do one base layer. keep it nice and low so it doesn't blow around everywhere.

scrape that first layer clean down with either your razor blade or scraper. you will need the razor blade to trim down the bubbling that occurs when you scratch your base tho. that is also something you will need to do to flatten it right out again. also another warning. razor blades are very sharp. be careful with them. go away from your body and other body part. i have thankfully not injured myself with one of these and i hope you can also stay safe.

throw down subsequent layers of p-tex into the scratch and slowly build it up. if it starts to bubble you're putting too much in at once. so it's really just repeating the process of these above mentioned steps until you fill it completely and get it nice and clean again.

throw a nice waxjob on there and it's looking and riding mint again. stay safe out there guys.

peace

sorry guys

for the complete lack of updates. been raining a lot lately and I've been shredding a bunch and in winter i alternate positions and stand in front of the lens. Nomis should be putting up an internet commercial we filmed at camp of champions this summer sometime soon here. I'll make sure to throw that up when it goes up. but for now i'm gonna throw up a video from last year. As you may know i broke my collar bone and had surgery on it. 6 inch plate and 6 screws. took 5 weeks off to recover, still have to go back in for surgery again this summer and get the plate out as it's causing me some problems still. Long story short. avoid breaking yourself.

On my first day back i filmed about 95% of this montage nomis made. the other 5% was filmed the day after which was my first day on the new joe sexton board as i broke my other board in the process of breaking my collar bone. here's the xrays. pretty ganrly. i won't show the picture of all the staples as some of you may never return to this blog haha

but here's the video you were all waiting for. Trint's back.

uh oh hotdog!

well those wonderful rolls of meat (i think it's meat atleast) are very useful for cooking. not just for the classical hotdog in bun.

there is many uses for them. in chicken noodle soup. replace chicken with chopped up bits of hotdog. in your mr noodles to add a bit of protein (again i think?) you can throw em on pizza aswell. so next time you're at the grocery store grab yourself a pack of em. super cheap and taste amazing. combine with your everyday cooking and see what you can whip up wit em.

here's a good old bobby lee skit of improper eating technique of a hotdog

New Lons Montage

Well here is a new montage me and gil made yesterday. But in other news. My mom is in Paris right now and she visited one of the most famous galleries and most famous skate spots, the gallery of modern art. Some locals apparently have fitting the stairs with a hubba and stuck a flat rail down in the ground. So if you're ever in the area you should defs hit that spot up. Looks pretty sick right about now. Thanks for the update mom!

Burger Stackin

Well my dad is in town to visit for the weekend and i took him out to mcdonalds last night to show him the wonders of stacking burgers. then i thought i would make you guys a quick recipe book for excellent meals at such a fine establishment. now a few of you are probably gonna say well psh i have been doing that for a while. and well that may be true this is still news to some people that you can stack those chincy little value pics burgers and create burgers a king would eat. so here's a few combos that i have found to be quite delicious.

The mcgangbang, the most classic of them all. composed of a junior chicken in between a mcdouble or double cheese. add extra mcchicken sauce.

The mcgangbang deluxe. same as previously stated but substitute fries in place of the pieces of bread.

The triplecheese deluxe. Which has since been modified as the bacon cheeseburger deluxe no longer exists. so substitute a bacon cheeseburger. which you then put between a mcdouble or double cheese.

The doubledouble. Two mcdoubles or double cheeses. one inside the other. pretty straight forward.

The junior chicken deluxe. Get yourself a junior chicken and a small fries. Cram as many of those golden little pieces of potato in there. add extra mcchicken sauce.

Finally the behemoth of the heartattack. Get yourself a Bigmac and a Mcchicken. place the mcchicken inside of bigmac. enjoy your heart attack.

with all of these don't forget the beverage and the free refills. they will come in handy.

here's a photo of my dad going all in on a triple cheese.

burg uniting

well yesterday was an adventure. met up with benson, first time meeting the dude. scary consistent with his tech tricks. I'll throw up that footy tomorrow. got a new spacer for my mk1 so i can film in standard def again thankfully. lost mine previously is why the switch. he also managed to knock my fisheye lens off my camera hahaha no scratches or anything. just kinda hilarious. but yah. here's a sick lil cod from lonsdale. they are re-doing the fence so this gap opened up for about an hour. roller bladders made good use. nobody manned up to skate it tho.

Street Life

Well yesterdays shooting was more than exciting. Filled with all sorts of exciting events and scenarios. we were shooting in a sketchy backalley with thousands of dollars of expensive camera gear. that in itself made this whole day sketch. let alone crack heads, deals, dumpster diving hobos and getting kicked out by "building owners". such a day. and then the attire we had our female cast dressed in also made things interesting. the one girl looked like a hooker and the other just a sketchy street kid. we always had to be on guard to make sure someone didn't try and pick the girl up! had to shoo a few men away... rough day on the job.

Behind the scenes: Tomorrow

Well i have recently started filming a behind the scenes section for a movie called Tomorrow. Quite the experience to say the least. Two red cameras and steadicams, field monitors, more lights that the superdome and a crew that resembles a small army. here are some photos from last nights shooting. can't leak the footage. obviously haha
