how to: fix a board
Well it's about that time of year again. Street rail sessions. undoubtedly our boards are gonna get trashed. without a doubt. but to help slow the process and keep your board riding nice and smooth throughout this season i'm going to provide you with a nice how to guide to patch those nasty cuts and scrapes in the base of your board.
ok well first step is to evaluate the situation, see what you're dealing with. if you can see wood core... well you may have a bigger situation than this little technique can fix and you will have to go to a shop. or patch it yourself. which is something i may show you later on if i manage to eff my board up to that extent. but anyways. here is what i was presented with. 3 dents in my base like this. pretty mellow. easy fix no doubt.
then next step. locate your tools and p-tex candle. these babies can be bought and most snowboard stores for a couple of bucks. i recommend buying like 5 or 6 of them tho. they go pretty quick. one thing i forgot in this image was a razor blade, which you will see later on.
then you'll want to take the lighter and light that little stick of plastic on fire. be careful. it gets really hot and if that drips on your skin it will cause an instant blister. it really really sucks. trust me.
get it burning nice and evenly
then begin dripping it into the scratch. don't fill it up entirely right away tho. just do one base layer. keep it nice and low so it doesn't blow around everywhere.
scrape that first layer clean down with either your razor blade or scraper. you will need the razor blade to trim down the bubbling that occurs when you scratch your base tho. that is also something you will need to do to flatten it right out again. also another warning. razor blades are very sharp. be careful with them. go away from your body and other body part. i have thankfully not injured myself with one of these and i hope you can also stay safe.
throw down subsequent layers of p-tex into the scratch and slowly build it up. if it starts to bubble you're putting too much in at once. so it's really just repeating the process of these above mentioned steps until you fill it completely and get it nice and clean again.
throw a nice waxjob on there and it's looking and riding mint again. stay safe out there guys.

sorry guys
for the complete lack of updates. been raining a lot lately and I've been shredding a bunch and in winter i alternate positions and stand in front of the lens. Nomis should be putting up an internet commercial we filmed at camp of champions this summer sometime soon here. I'll make sure to throw that up when it goes up. but for now i'm gonna throw up a video from last year. As you may know i broke my collar bone and had surgery on it. 6 inch plate and 6 screws. took 5 weeks off to recover, still have to go back in for surgery again this summer and get the plate out as it's causing me some problems still. Long story short. avoid breaking yourself.
On my first day back i filmed about 95% of this montage nomis made. the other 5% was filmed the day after which was my first day on the new joe sexton board as i broke my other board in the process of breaking my collar bone. here's the xrays. pretty ganrly. i won't show the picture of all the staples as some of you may never return to this blog haha
but here's the video you were all waiting for. Trint's back.

uh oh hotdog!
well those wonderful rolls of meat (i think it's meat atleast) are very useful for cooking. not just for the classical hotdog in bun.
there is many uses for them. in chicken noodle soup. replace chicken with chopped up bits of hotdog. in your mr noodles to add a bit of protein (again i think?) you can throw em on pizza aswell. so next time you're at the grocery store grab yourself a pack of em. super cheap and taste amazing. combine with your everyday cooking and see what you can whip up wit em.
here's a good old bobby lee skit of improper eating technique of a hotdog

New Lons Montage
Well here is a new montage me and gil made yesterday. But in other news. My mom is in Paris right now and she visited one of the most famous galleries and most famous skate spots, the gallery of modern art. Some locals apparently have fitting the stairs with a hubba and stuck a flat rail down in the ground. So if you're ever in the area you should defs hit that spot up. Looks pretty sick right about now. Thanks for the update mom!

Burger Stackin
Well my dad is in town to visit for the weekend and i took him out to mcdonalds last night to show him the wonders of stacking burgers. then i thought i would make you guys a quick recipe book for excellent meals at such a fine establishment. now a few of you are probably gonna say well psh i have been doing that for a while. and well that may be true this is still news to some people that you can stack those chincy little value pics burgers and create burgers a king would eat. so here's a few combos that i have found to be quite delicious.
The mcgangbang, the most classic of them all. composed of a junior chicken in between a mcdouble or double cheese. add extra mcchicken sauce.
The mcgangbang deluxe. same as previously stated but substitute fries in place of the pieces of bread.
The triplecheese deluxe. Which has since been modified as the bacon cheeseburger deluxe no longer exists. so substitute a bacon cheeseburger. which you then put between a mcdouble or double cheese.
The doubledouble. Two mcdoubles or double cheeses. one inside the other. pretty straight forward.
The junior chicken deluxe. Get yourself a junior chicken and a small fries. Cram as many of those golden little pieces of potato in there. add extra mcchicken sauce.
Finally the behemoth of the heartattack. Get yourself a Bigmac and a Mcchicken. place the mcchicken inside of bigmac. enjoy your heart attack.
with all of these don't forget the beverage and the free refills. they will come in handy.
here's a photo of my dad going all in on a triple cheese.

well yesterday was an adventure. met up with benson, first time meeting the dude. scary consistent with his tech tricks. I'll throw up that footy tomorrow. got a new spacer for my mk1 so i can film in standard def again thankfully. lost mine previously is why the switch. he also managed to knock my fisheye lens off my camera hahaha no scratches or anything. just kinda hilarious. but yah. here's a sick lil cod from lonsdale. they are re-doing the fence so this gap opened up for about an hour. roller bladders made good use. nobody manned up to skate it tho.

Street Life
Well yesterdays shooting was more than exciting. Filled with all sorts of exciting events and scenarios. we were shooting in a sketchy backalley with thousands of dollars of expensive camera gear. that in itself made this whole day sketch. let alone crack heads, deals, dumpster diving hobos and getting kicked out by "building owners". such a day. and then the attire we had our female cast dressed in also made things interesting. the one girl looked like a hooker and the other just a sketchy street kid. we always had to be on guard to make sure someone didn't try and pick the girl up! had to shoo a few men away... rough day on the job.

What a night...
Well last night we went on an epic adventure to say the least. skated at park with gil. got today's cod, which is a kickflip over the ledge the wrong way. almost died when he clipped the one time haha but came back home, edited that, thought the day was over. wrong. about 9 got a call from Julian saying they're going to leeside to film and wanted me to join. so i said sure. on their trip over to pick me up plans had changed and we ended up going downtown to shred the georgia 8 set. Jules is going for a banger. (COD with footy from that night tomorrow). we show up. get a couple warm up ollies. Mat Heff breaks his tail off ollieing the set and he wasn't even gonna try any tricks. bummer. Jules starts to get into it. Gives it about 10 tries then boom. broken board. So now were down two dilweeds. but the session didn't end there. they hopped back in the whip. cruised home. snatched two new decks and rolled back. jules gripped us his new Dilweed in the most awful grip i had ever seen. you can see scraps of it in the one photo. worst texture and worst stick. it was peeling up after one session. just awful, but anyways back at it julian went. for over an hour. landed on so many as you will see. but no clean roll aways. don't you worry boys and girls. It shall be done. here's some photos from that night and a clip of the day. enjoy

Weather changes aswell as the blog layout
Well since today was the first snow on Grouse, Seymour, Cypress, Whistler and wouldn't you know my hometown Saskatoon, I am just gonna go ahead and switch this blog over into winter mode. Start getting you guys hyped for the winter months. They really aren't that bad. are they? none the less. hope you like the layout. Still gotta figure out how to get full page background images... with such a chincy file size limit i need to figure out some crazy technique to get a large but very small file size on here. Eventually. but for now. we got some fresh pow. but since i still have years of skate footy sitting around waiting to be seen by you guys here's another COD from gil. nosemanny for days. take care guys.

Justin and Joey Footage
Well I hurt my ears at work a few days ago so editing all this with the sound at bare minimum was one of the hardest things i have ever done, in relation to editing and filming. Joey sent me a bunch of clips from his camera but could never get the sound to work. then later found out the format doesn't work with macs. damn. none the less here is their footage from the year. Hope you guys and they're stoked.

Well here is a short clip of a few of the many hits i have had. i rarely capture them as they are a grim reminder of the abuse my camera has taken, i can think of two off the top of my head i didn't capture. Oh well. so here's what can happen skate filming unfortunately. watch those lenses boys. they don't come cheap.

Well it's been raining a lot lately and sunny days to skate and film are few and far between and it's gotten me thinking about winter a lot. Just a lot of fun park stuff. nothing overly serious. enjoy

Don't Swear Kids!
Well yesterday we hit two spots. All in the northvan region. one was a sick little barrier spot. well. what would have been sick if not for someone running into it and messing up the concrete job. good old street signs came through tho. here's gilly with a backside wallie to donut chomp. For the COD if you can believe it that guy chased gil down and shouted at him for cussing and there was no kick out as the result. Go figure hey.

Justins COD
This line took quite some time to get but in the end turned out quite well. Logged about 7 COD's yesterday so if it rains for a while we still got some content. Most of the clips are bro cammed and here is a photo to prove thus. Joey gettin rad with a front smith and Justin following close behind.

Pole Dance
After months of convincing Gil has started to get on his ledge and rail combo game. Pretty nuts to watch. here's a front smith to front feeble only a day after he learned it on the gold rail going negative two. stepping it up hardcore with this one. Now all we gotta do is find a suitable street rail.
Saturday, September 18, 2010
Big Ten
Yesterday at lonsdale the locals decided to huck themselves down the big ten stair. Which is by no means a small ten. it's probably atl east a 12 of a normal street set. JJ threw down a back feeble on the handrail and I convinced Justin to re-do his backside crooks on the hubba ledge for me, and also for a ride to Gilberts house, which he never got since he just decided to show up haha but good work on his part none the less. here is a photo shot of the back feeble and a stick but no land on the back crooks.

Beauty and the Beast
Well by now a few of you are probably wondering what I'm filming these videos with. So here are my babies. The FX1 unfortunately isn't as babied as it should be. Lens hits are o plenty. I guess that's the price for getting up close. If I ever can find the clips I'll throw a lens hit montage up here. But for now here's the FX1 MK1 Intermediate and the Canon t2i
and here is one summers worth of tapes. still lots more to come guys so keep checking back!
and i still have more today! One more clip of the day and a photo from the lonsdale park.

Hot Spot Redemption
We went back to hotspot yesterday to get a couple tricks. To my surprise everyone ended up getting their tricks and I even ended up getting one as well (which is today's COD) Joey took a tumble a and a half near the end of the session tho which kinda sucks. Overall such a fun sesh. Can't wait to skate there again. Check back demain to see what we got up to today. I've also included some photos in this post. First skate photos with my new camera. I'll show you some light into that tomorrow aswell.

Gambling with other peoples money
Well yesterday me and Gilbert once again headed downtown to try and get some clips. The plan was to sesh the Georgia 8 set and get a trick down it. Before Gil was ready to send his life down the 8 set he wanted to warm up on the banks so I said sure and chilled out by the fountain. To my surprise I found a pair of 8.5 vans submerged in the fountain.
Quickly fished em out and bingo gils got new shoes. We never even ended up shooting the 8 stair haha ended up just having a fun lil skate sesh on the banks instead. Got the boot from there and on the way from there to our next spot we found a lottery ticket on the sidewalk! How lucky can a guy get in one day. view todays COD for the result. When we finally got to the spot warmed up and were getting down to business a wedding showed up and parked it’s fancy limo right in the way.
So that killed it right there. Ah well. We’ll head on back tomorrow and finish business.

COD3
well it's not quite midnight yet so i guess you guys get two posts in one day. Gilbert knocks out a line at lonsdale. i think we have pretty much tapped this park dry for tricks to be done. we really need to go somewhere else. but that's all for today, and tomorrow. I'm beat so it's off to bed.
COD2
Two days in a row I'm coming at you with a clip of the day. Made some titles last night in AE right quick. Could use a little work but that's what I got for now. enjoy

flood season
Well it's about that time of year again. Fall in Vancouver well i guess also winter, brings a lot of rain to this city. Impeding the skateboarding and the filming of such. so until mother nature decides to back off for a minute new content will be a little more scarce but we'll do our best over here to get some new footy and interesting stories going for you guys. since there wont be any new fun and exciting content today i'll just leave with you one of my favorite montages from the summer. Day trip out to twassen. got there and it started raining. ducked out for 15 mins and got perfert bluebird filming weather. gotta love the Vancity weather.
